It would be great if the index of the figures can also be set as e.g. Fig. 2.1 as the first figure in Chapter 2, instead of Figure 1 if it is the first figure; i.e. Figures in Chapter 1 will be numbered Fig 1.1, Fig. 1.2, Fig 1.3 and the Figures in Chapter 2, Fig 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc.

While you write you document the numbering of the figures is just 1,2,3 ... without considering the chapters. But when you export your writing as PDF, the chosen template determines how the figures are numbered. e.g. If you export it using the thesis template the figures are numbered with respect to the chapter (1.1, .... 2.1, ....).

It would make sense to have an option to also change the numbering while writing but it is not planned yet. Let's see if other people vote for it.
